that such recurring evangelical accents should not be uttered in the fashion of a grocery list but uttered with the freshness of obedient evangelical rhetoric. So, first, I hope that these prayers will aid others in the act of public prayer. Second, this collection of prayers may be justified as an act of gratitude. These prayers are published in my last semester of teaching after forty-one years of teaching and praying. Over that time I have of course studied with a variegated assemblage of students.
